LANE COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS
This is a high speed internet access broadband improvement project. It will install fiber optic cable and optical equipment to connect over 100 critical institutions with high speed broadband. It will develop an interconnection facility where these users and carriers can interconnect. The work so far has taken place primarily at 859 Willamette Street, Eugene, Oregon, 97401

For the quarter activities included continuation of construction on several route elements. The final construction contract was awarded. Franchises and permits for construction were obtained to allow quick start up next quarter.
This project will develop fiber optic
connectivity in 16 cities and five
unincorporated communities,
bringing improved broadband
service to more than 100
critical institutions in a three
county area of Oregon. The
project will provide improved
bandwidth to allow these
institutions to better serve the
public. The project will also
provide a telecommunications
interconnection facility that will
allow carriers to interconnect
and provide better services
throughout the region. The
project will concentrate on
service to critical institutions but
will also develop additional fiber
and bandwidth to allow private
carriers to offer broadband
services to others in the
communities served. |
