LOS ANGELES, COUNTY OF
This proposal includes an integrated community action plan to implement policy, systems, and environmental changes that will contribute to the long range goals of improving nutrition, increasing physical activity, and decreasing obesity among children and adults across the entire jurisdiction of Los Angeles.
RENEW LA County aims to reduce obesity, improve nutrition, and increase physical activity among residents of Los Angeles County. The CDC-funded initiative will implement evidence-based, community interventions to address the obesity epidemic. Interventions will include, but not limited to, a targeted social marketing and public education campaign to promote healthier eating and a range of school-based efforts to increase physical education in schools.

Project Director: Hires staff, executes contracts, and finalizes Community Action Plan.
1 Policy Analysts: Guide nutrition and physical activity policy development process among RENEW partners, work with partners to develop and implement community action plans, and ensure progress toward policy passage and implementation;
2 Assistant Policy Analysts: Assist Policy Analysts in coordinating selected components of the Community Action Plan, including managing some of the consultants and contracts;
Chief of Administration: Supports Project Director in managing daily operation and administration of project, including fiscal and contractual oversight of the RENEW unit;
2 Administrative Assistant IIs: Perform general administrative duties such as scheduling and supporting events, preparing travel and mileage claims, and purchasing requests;
1 Senior Typist Clerk: Provide secretarial support to the project staff. Responsible for dating and stamping incoming reports and invoicing from contractors, as well as photocopying, faxing, mailing, and formatting of reports;
Project Manager: Oversees and coordinates the transit-oriented district (TOD) planning effort. Ensures timely implementation of TOD strategy tasks, including managing urban planners;
3 Urban Planners: Responsible for one of several TOD plans in different areas of the City of Los Angeles. Research and survey rail station areas, assess future land use needs, and work with local community groups to identify issues, strategies, and future projects that might impact the TOD effort.
Health Care Financial Analyst: develop annual financial plans, monitor performance, and prepare summaries of financial activities for CDC documentation and reporting requirements.
