Contracts - AWARD SUMMARY

TEX-TECH INDUSTRIES, INC.

Tex Tech Industries in partnership with it?s subcontractors at the University of Maine and D2 Systems have begun the work described in Solicitation Number W911QY-BAA-09-11-1 Natick BAA under contract # W911QY-10-C-0015. The scope of work includes fabrication of low cost, lightweight, flexible photovoltaic textiles and tapes that could be adapted for soldiers or shelters. Organic photovoltaics are pursued because it offers low production costs, is fast to produce, and can be flexible and lightweight. The University of Maine will produce low cost carbon nanofibers made from lignin and combine them with photoreactive polymeric materials to produce fibers and tapes. D2 systems will prepare schematics and models of electronic photovoltaic arrays and assist in the preparation of systems that will practically gather the useable voltage. The major challenge is to create a stable organic polymer with reasonable efficiency that can be used to prepare textile products. During this period, Tex Tech industries continued to manage the program and direct the research work with its partners at the University of Maine and D2 Systems. Tex Tech continues to organize the purchase of needed equipment for the program and manage personnel and the overall budget.During this period, Tex Tech Industries and subcontractor, D2 systems proposed a plan that would continue the research work. The plan is under review and work is expected to continue beyond the initial contract in order to achieve the desired end state in the program.

Quarterly Activities/Project Description Tex Tech Industries in partnership with its subcontractors have begun the work described in Solicitation Number W911QY-BAA-09-11-1 Natick BAA under contract # W911QY-10-C-0015. The scope of work includes fabrication of low cost, lightweight, flexible photovoltaic textiles and tapes that could be adapted for soldiers or shelters. Organic photovoltaics are pursued because it offers low production costs, is fast to produce, and can be flexible and lightweight. Tex Tech Industries partnered with D2 Solutions, LLC and The University of Maine AEWC Advanced Structures and Composites Center and Forest Bioproducts Research Initiative (FBRI) are in the process of developing a low cost flexible photovoltaic textile fabric enhanced with low cost carbon nanofiber. During this period: The University of Maine CNF/Lignin group: Designed, built, and commissioned a temperature programmable gas over liquid pressurized liquid delivery system for the custom unit operation in the production of carbon nanofiber from lignin. Continued production of carbon nanofibers from lignin at the targeted daily rate. D2 Systems worked with Dr. Mustafa Guvench to complete final draft of textile design patent disclosure and is currently developing a textile prototype for the final deliverable to be reviewed by the Army development team at Natick. The program is currently greater than 95% complete. Program has been extended until April 14th 2011. Reports for the extension period are currently being submitted with a final report.
