In the first quarter of 2013, the WV Health Care Authority (HCA) and WV Health Information Network (WVHIN) awarded grants to five hospitals as part of the Early Adopter Grant Program for Health Information Exchange (HIE). These hospitals included: St. Mary's Medical Center, Thomas Memorial, Preston Memorial, Monongalia General, and Grafton City Hospital. The WVHIN, through the West Virginia Health Improvement Institute, Inc. d/b/a the West Virginia Regional Health Information Technology Extension Center (WVRHITEC), has been issuing Direct addresses to healthcare providers. As of 3/31/2013, the WVHIN had approximately 710 users of Direct. WVHIN has also been working closely with the WVRHITEC to identify ambulatory care providers to participate in the HIE. As of 3/31/2013, WVHIN received approximately 25 agreements from physician practices to participate in the HIE. The WVHIN also spent a significant amount of time and resources working with the WV Center for End of Life Care to enable healthcare providers to access the WV e-Directive Registry through the WVHIN. Close to 30 healthcare organizations have completed the necessary agreements and have begun using the WV e-Directive Registry through the WVHIN. In the program administration area, WVHIN updated its Business Associate Agreement to reflect new changes under the law. In the area of education and outreach, WVHIN team members participated in various healthcare related conferences/meetings throughout the State to actively market Direct and HIE. These conferences/meetings included, but were not limited to, the Charleston Chapter of the Office Managers Association meeting, the WV Primary Care Association Quality Improvement Conference and webinars held by the WVHIN. WVHIN also launched a new website in January 2013. |

GRANT/ FISCAL MANAGER (Filled June 16, 2011; vacant Feb 15, 2012; Filled April 16, 2012) - Maintaining office services and efficiency, supervising staff, maintaining office records, and financial reports. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (Filled May 23, 2011) - Assist staff with scheduling, coordination of telephone calls, takes minutes at all WVHIN Board Meetings as well as other pertinent meetings, plans events, and supports time schedules of the staff. |
