| Quarterly Activities/Project Description |
Equipment purchases have been fully completed at all the participating 9 institutions and the Tier 3 clusters have been operational and heavily used for ATLAS analyses at all the 9 institutions. After the discovery of a new particle consistent with the Higgs boson on 7/4/12, ATLAS collaboration has been focused on various measurements of the new particle and new physics searches. The Univ of Chicago: The cluster has been actively used for ATLAS physics analyses. Columbia Univ: The cluster is heavily used for analysis collected by the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in 2011 and 2012. California State Univ, Fresno: The Tier 3 cluster consists of 136 job slots and ~82 TB of configured disk space and has been operational and heavily used by CSU Fresno ATLAS group members for ATLAS Dijet physics analyses and developing new color-connection variables to distinguish jets from new physics from jets of QCD backgrounds. Hampton Univ: The facility was used for analysis in 2012 for the ATLAS physics exotics group needs and the local Hampton University group.
Michigan State Univ: MSU has spent the remaining funds on storage servers and its Tier 3 is complete and intensively used by analysts in both the US and CERN. Northern Illinois Univ: Members of the NIU ATLAS team continue to utilize the T3 cluster routinely for their analysis activities. All objectives have been duly met. New York Univ: The Tier 3 cluster has been actively used for ATLAS physics analyses. The cluster consists of 144 cores on the worker nodes with 24 GB memory per worker and 30 TB of disk space for local processing. The Stony Brook Univ: All the equipment has been acquired and is in use for data analysis. Univ of Washington: The cluster has been running and actively used for physics analyses of the UW ATLAS group members, including the search for both SM and non-SM Higgs decays to taus, exotic searches for long lived particles, and standard model electroweak precision measurements. |
