CINCINNATI METROPOLITAN HOUSING AUTHORITY
The funding will be and is being used to conduct modernization activities. To the greatest extent possible, projects identified include energy saving related items such as; doors, roofs (insulation), windows, 90% efficient heating/cooling plants and appliances. Most of these projects had been planned but delayed because of reduced funding levels. With the replacement of approximately 1600 stoves and refrigerators with "Energy Star" rated models and converting from standing gas pilots to electronic ignition we anticipate significant reductions in natural gas and electric use in future years. One of the areas where ARRA funds are being used is the completion of a major renovation project at one of our family sites. 109 units will have been "gut rehabbed" and 8 units will be reconfigured to fully meet ADA requirements. In addition to the 109 units a "gut rehab" of a 12 unit building (converting one unit to fully ADA) and 42 units of moderate renovation will be completed.

ARRA funding resulted in the creation of 108 full time construction jobs, which have been provided by 20 vendors. The jobs provided include roofing, painting, HVAC, drywall installation, plumbing, window installation, trim work and framing, unit demolition, exterior facade, exterior site work-retaining walls, site assessment and appliance installation. With the completion of all contracts last quarter, there was no new job creation. A change in the job reporting only requires reporting of hours worked during the current quarter for ARRA projects. There were no provisions in the ARRA job reporting to determine if employees hired by contractors using ARRA funding remained employed by the contractor on other non-ARRA funded projects. |
