| Quarterly Activities/Project Description |
SFSF-Ed Funds helped stabilize State and local budgets to mitigate and avoid reductions in education and other essential services in exchange for a State?s commitment to advance education reform in four areas: (1) improving teacher effectiveness and equitable distribution of qualified teachers, particularly students who are most in need; (2) establishing pre-K-to-college-and-career data systems; (3) making progress toward valid, reliable, and rigorous college- and career-ready standards and high-quality assessments, including limited English proficient students and students with disabilities; and (4) providing targeted support and interventions for the lowest-performing schools. LEAs were able to use funds for activities previously authorized in various federal education acts. Uses of funds included: (1)averting layoffs of teachers and other personnel; (2) furthering reform in the areas of teacher quality, standards and assessments; (3) using longitudinal data to improve instruction; and (4) supporting struggling schools. With respect to postsecondary, the UC used ARRA funds to retain 22% of the University's state-funded workforce responsible for core operations/teaching, research, & public service. The CSU used ARRA funds to retain positions in the areas of instruction, academic support, student services, institutional support, plant maintenance, skilled craftsmen, & public services.
Please note that CA reports only those funds that are received/invoiced (or disbursed in the subrecipient field) from LEAs for whom CA has active CCR registrations and DUNS and active charter schools. Therefore, in this quarterly report there may be minor discrepancies in the total award outstanding as determined by the CA Dept of Education compared to the amount noted by the Federal Dept of Education. At the time of the due date for report submission, the data reported is the best available. CA recognizes these discrepancies and will close these numbers out internally in the future. |

The California Community Colleges (CCC) distributed funds to its 72 local campuses to be used for campus expenses, including workforce payroll, instructional materials, and operating costs, specifically funding 480.01 FTE jobs. |
