CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES, VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF
The funds available to the Commonwealth of Virginia from the Byrne JAG Recovery Act funds afforded the state legislature the opportunity to offset the budget cuts necessitated by declining state revenues. The Recovery Act JAG funds will be used to provide funds to the Compensation Board for distribution to Sheriff's offices during state fiscal year 2010. There are 118 localities eligible to recieve indrect awards in the amount of $9,999 or less. These small awards were based on violent crime rates. Funds have also been awarded for the Internet Crimes Against Children Program (ICAC).
