TRI COUNTY COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY INC
Tri-County Early Head Start provided services to 66 infants and toddlers and 6 pregnant women, serving a total of 72. These infants and toddlers have benefited from a comprehensive, developmental program. Their families are benefiting by knowing their child is being well cared for while they work. The program provides a safe, healthy environment in which all available resources are utilized to ensure that each child has the opportunity to develop to his/her fullest potential. In order to effectively meet the needs of the total child, a team approach system, involving staff from all service areas (health, social service, nutrition, mental health, disabilities, education), is used. We recognize that parents are the primary teachers and principle influence on their child?s life. The program views parents as the primary educational resource for their child. As a result we recognize the need to support families in their efforts to strengthen their family through attaining economic independence, improving their educational level, or providing a safe home environment. We realize that all children are unique individuals. There for, the methods used in teach and guiding the children enrolled are based upon the accepted principles of child growth and development. These methods encourage the nurturing of individuality in all children.

Tri-County Early Head Start has been providing services to 24 infants and toddlers through partnerships with child care centers. The centers have been able to improve their quality of services to working parents as a result of this partnership. We have opened classrooms that currently serve 42 infants and toddlers.
Tri-County Early Head Start has completed minor renovations to three sites and two are awaiting final letters of approval to submit to licensing. In the meantime these children are being served in neighboring communities or are served through home based services. Tri-County Early Head Start has hired 24 staff to provide services to the children and family. The EHS ARRA funding has supported the efforts of 31 working parents to attain self-sufficiency. |

Tri-County Early Head Start hired two staff to coordinate start-up services and provide training for Early Head Start teachers. Teachers and teacher assistants have been in training to earn their Child Development Associates for Infants and Toddlers. We also added one Child/Family Site Director who provides supervision to the center staff and also works closely with the families. |
