WASHINGTON – U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood today participated in a ceremony to sign an agreement to provide $1.55 billion to the City and County of Honolulu on the island of Oahu to build Hawaii’s first-ever rail transit system. The project is expected to shorten commutes in one of the most congested cities in the nation, provide greater transit options to Oahu’s residents and visitors, and create tens of thousands of construction-related jobs. | California Officials to Break Ground on Next Phase of Presidio Parkway10/12/2012
SAN FRANCISCO - Federal Highway Administrator Victor Mendez was in San Francisco today to participate in the groundbreaking for the second phase of the Presidio Parkway project, a new six-lane roadway that will improve safety on this connection between the city of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. He joined House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Caltrans Director Malcolm Dougherty and other officials at the event. Project on Amtrak’s Vermonter Line is Completed on Time and on Budget
BRATTLEBORO, Vt. – U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood today announced the on-time and on-budget completion of a two-year project making upgrades and repairs along 190 miles of track between St. Albans and Vernon on Amtrak’s Vermonter line. Secretary LaHood was joined at the dedication by Governor Peter Shumlin, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, U.S. Representative Peter Welch and Federal Railroad Administrator Joseph C.
