The growing population in Douglas County will further increase the number of misdemeanor and felony criminal arrests by the Douglas County Sheriff?s office. Thereby the number of cases handled by the Douglas County District Attorney?s Office and the County Solicitor General?s Office will also rise. The above elected official departments have collaborated to submit eligible purpose area projects that will enhance planning, evaluation and technology improvements. Two projects improve technology within prosecution and court projects, while the third project enhances technology within a corrections program. Project One - Project Objectives and Outcomes: 1) Objective: Reducing the number of visitors manually entered by Officers Measurable Outcome: The number of visitations scheduled on the new visitation system 2) Objective: Increase the visiting hours for inmates Measurable Outcome: Number of inmates that are allowed visitation under the new system 3) Objective: Reduction of officer to inmate ratio for visitation process Measurable Outcome: Number of officers assigned to inmates during first reporting period 4) Recovery Act Objective: Increased corrections officer (job) preservation Measurable Outcome: How many officers were retained in a reporting period? Project Two - Project Objectives and Outcomes: 1) Recovery Act Objective: Create a temporary contract for a professional service position to upgrade and enhance interactive web usage for victims of crime Measurable Outcome: Number of person(s) or business awarded temporary employment due to recovery act funding 2) Objective: Increase the number of victims that interact with staff on the District Attorney?s web site: Measurable Outcome Increased number of hits on the web site as well as recorded interaction 3) Recovery Act Objective: Maintain or retain current number of positions within the District Attorney?s Office Measurable Outcome Recorded number of retained positions during the grant period Project Three Project Objectives and Outcomes: 1) Recovery Act Objective: Retain current number of jobs during the grant period Measurable Outcome: Recorded number of positions retained during grant period 2) Objective Increase the number of visual presentations created for courtroom use for prosecution Measurable Outcome: Recorded number of presentations created with new equipment within the grant period
